Happy Birthday Jangro

January 27th, 2009 · Comments · Friends, social media

No I don’t refer to Scott as Jangro, but let’s go in reverse and see how it all started and why I consider him a friend instead of a bookmark. When getting into affiliate marketing in the very beginning Emilio, from ARC, gave me a list of blogs. He said I want you to take a look at them and read up on current topics in the industry. I marked Jangro in my favourites under the name “Jangro Must Read.” See at that point in time, I didn’t know much about this blog only that it was on my things to do list. Fast forward to Vegas Summit 2008. I met the Jangro and he met the Hoff long story. Turns out he’s a great craps player.

I started reading Scott’s blog more and not because it was on my list of things to do but because it was the one that made sense to me. Even though I didn’t know much about the industry Scott explained things in a no BS manner and I really appreciated that. Looking at Vegas Summit 2009 of course Scott wins Best Blogger of the Affiliate Summit Pinnacle Awards. He is someone that doesn’t blog just to meet a daily quota. He is someone that puts a lot of thought into what he says without going on for days about it and most importantly he is sincere in the points he makes.

Your many posts, videos, and podcasts have inspired me and many people from newbies to legends. I would like to mention a couple fun topics I enjoyed like The Chinpose, and the Twitter Color Wars. Scott pushed the envelope by adding not one color but two..Blue and Green! In many ways, he got me to realize that Twitter was not full of nonsense, I was convinced that it was a bunch of crapola. Now I am the one that can’t get off of Twitter.

Jangro always surprises us by being different one post was his Going Green and then he was one of the first people to ever post real time tweets about his son’s birth and shared with everyone about it in a post called Geek Birth and Social Media. On a more serious note one of the most helpful posts he made that sticks out in my mind is the NY Tax when it was a new issue. I really didn’t understand it well, until he explained everything and broke it down in his post. On his company anniversary, he shared the reason he moved his life into this direction in the first place. This I think was my favourite one because it was insightful, motivational, and so simple: have fun!

Anyways I am not here to blab about what a great blogger he is because that is apparent and speaks for itself. Scott isn’t just a blogger, he isn’t just an affiliate marketer, hopeless geek, runner, innovator, he’s one of the greatest peeps out there. So to my friend I am here to say Happy Birthday Scotty and keep doing what you do!
