Today I was on Twitter getting ready to send out my #followfriday #ase09 edition. When I think about the Affiliate Summit people I think @affiliatetip, @missyward, and Amy Rodriguez. Wait a second I couldn’t remember Amy’s Twitter name. Amy is the fabulous contact I always discuss conference details with for the ARC team. To my surprise she was not an active Twitter user! Have no fear I am bringing her over to the darkside…
Amy has appointed me as her Twitter mentor. So since I know she is more of a Facebook user, I suggested to link Twitter and Facebook together through this application: http://apps.facebook.com/twitter/. Now that Amy set the Twitter application up she is ready to go. She is a busy woman so this is the perfect way to get back into Twitter for her without wasting extra time. If you are attending Affiliate Summit in NYC this summer, follow her Twitter account @AmyRodriguez . I look forward to seeing her tweets!
This set up is one of easiest ways to stay up to date with your Social Media accounts. If you are interested in linking both up; I have provided the steps below.
How to Link Twitter to Facebook:
1. Log into Facebook & search: Twitter
2. Add the Twitter Application
3. Enter in your Twitter Username and Password
4. Allow Twitter to update your Facebook Status
5. Test: sign into Twitter and update, check your Facebook Status to see if it updated
For the Visual Learners out there:
Some do not like mixing Facebook and Twitter followers but time is precious. If there is anything I can do to cut down on my Social Media addiction, I am all for it. Here is a solution to the confusion. There is a Facebook application that can manage which tweets post to Facebook. This Facebook app is the answer.
“Selective Twitter Status lets you update your Facebook status from Twitter - BUT you can choose which tweets you want - just end a tweet with #fb when you want to post it as your Facebook status - simple!” I am sure that some Facebook friends that do not understand Twitter will soon come up to speed. When they do ask me what is Twitter, I am always happy to explain it to them.
Are you afraid to crossover to the darkside? While posting always remember this rule of thumb from Peter Shankman: ”If it offends a preacher, parent, or boss don’t post it.” It’s as simple as that folks. The web is like permanent ink so be conscious of what you say; other than that have a good time doing it. Share with the world what you love.
I would love to hear your comments below…
What are your opinions on having Twitter link to Facebook?
Do you have your Twitter update your Facebook Status?
Do you think this only confuses your Facebook friends?
Happy Tweeting!
