Not sure about WordPress? Not only is WordPress our friend but our friend is well known and credible among all. I went to my second WordPress MeetUp. This meeting was regarding WordPress as a CMS (Content Management System). It is a very simple tool for anyone to use. We have had local clients work with WordPress. The back end is very user friendly. I am a huge fan of WordPress because it makes websites and blogs accessible to anyone.

Lijit was featured as this month’s WordPress plugin. Here is a snipit of what Lijit does: In real life, people reach out to their friends or acquaintances for answers because that is their trusted souce, Lijit works this way online. To learn more you can view their plugin through your WordPress plugin search or directly on Lijit.com. FYI this is a free plugin.

WordPress as a CMS:
Many clients that need access to make their own updates use WordPress as a content management system. Instead of contacting someone else to make the update for you, it is easier to have the access yourself. The most important thing to note: if you are not a designer or programmer yourself, you may need someone else to design the look and structure for you. It is key to decide the structure you want for your website and have that created by the experts. From there you can update the content on the website.

Do-it-Yourself:
If you can do this yourself or want to try it just install a Free WordPress theme. A great place to start is my friend’s favourite site: 100 excellent Free WordPress Themes. This changes the look and layout of the blog. If you are getting WordPress as a CMS which is more like a website instead of a blog, I suggest having a professional customize it to fit exactly what you need.
