Affiliate Summit Saturday Guide

Saturday Guide Added!

Affiliate Summit West is just around the corner! I have attended each Summit since 2007 and the show continues to grow. Before the conference kicks off there are several networking opportunities. My daily Summit guide covers events and sessions I recommend attending and why. That being said this time I am starting off with a guide that includes Saturday as well.

Prioritize:

When making plans you have to ask yourself: What is the most beneficial for me? Your needs are never going to be the same as mine. If you are brand new to the industry, you may want to attend more sessions to learn the ins and outs. If you have a business and need to bring on clients, you may want to be at each networking event. After you take care of your needs remember how important it is to make time and fit others into your schedule.

Get Organized:

Things can get hectic with so much going on. Affiliate Summit provided us with a new tool to get everyone organized. Check out the Affiliate Summit Schedule Tool; I will be sure to set up my own schedule soon. Preparing ahead of time makes things a lot easier. Once this is done, you will be able to find the most opportune times for coordinating your other meetings.

Networking Tips:

I am sure you want to get the most out of your Summit experience. Here is a useful podcast with Deborah Loxly, Carolyn Tang from ShareASale, Jen Goode and Billy Kay recorded on Affiliate ABCs: The Importance of Networking to Your Bottom Line. This podcast shows the power of establishing connections. If it’s your first time attending Affiliate Summit I would definitely listen to it.

Network Ahead of Time:

Connect online before the conference. Make sure you join the social network for Affiliate Summit on Ning. You can also follow #asw10 speakers on Twitter to get a feel for if you want to attend their sessions. For up to date news follow @affiliatesummit on Twitter. When you post your Summit tweets remember to use the hashtag #asw10.

Become a Mentor:

I always tell people that in our industry everyone is easy going. If there is someone you want to meet connect with them online ahead of time. This way when you meet them in person it is like you already know each other. If you are a bit shy then have a friend introduce you. If you don’t know anyone try to get involved with the Affiliate Summit Mentor Program. Jen Goode has done a fantastic job of helping others get ahead by running this program. If you know your way around please sign up to be a mentor. I will finally get to be one this year and looking forward to showing someone the ropes. Follow @asmentors for up to date news.

Enough of the encouragement to network here is what you really want are the events…Where it all happens.

I Lost All My Chips:

In life there will always be winners and losers. What happens in Vegas ends up on camera and online. As you can see in that video, even though I lost last year I had too much fun to notice. Jason Rubacky put on a fantastic poker tournament with Football Fanatics. This year there is another tournament and it benefits the National Breast Cancer Foundation. If you are getting in on Saturday this is a great way to kick off your Affiliate Summit. Give back to a great cause and you can even win prizes listed in the link below.

Why You Will Stay Up All Night:

You spent time playing poker for a good cause and hopefully winning some prizes. FYI the night has not even begun. Keep this in mind, Affiliate Summit is a marathon and Saturday is just a warm up. This night should be easy considering the conference has not begun and you have not been on your feet all day. Yes the events are going to keep you up late but don’t miss out on networking opportunities (i.e. the reason you are at this conference). Remember to have fun while you’re in Vegas! Let’s hope you are ready for everything Saturday night has coming your way…

Hai, Pleased to Meet You! :)

Say Hello!

Another thing I look forward to is meeting new faces at ASW10 especially my first mentee! I also invited a friend of mine from South Florida to attend @JohnCarcutt. This will be his first Affiliate Summit. He speaks and attends other conferences regularly such as PubCon, SMX, and other search-related conferences. He will be speaking at ASW10 this year on a panel with @TheRealTimJones and @BenSpark. I am his self-appointed mentor as well. I hope my mentee doesn’t mind! :)

More Please:

My upcoming posts will cover a day by day guide for the conference. For the conference days I will go more in depth with the sessions and also include the events. Here is a full list of parties and special events from Missy Ward, Co-founder of Affiliate Summit. If you have an event you want me to mention in my daily guide posts or want to put together an informal event like dinner or Vegas tour feel free to send me an email at: stephanie.lichtenstein (at) gmail.com.

Meet Me at ASW10!

If you would like to meet with me during Affiliate Summit please feel free to contact me on Twitter @MicroSteph. To start networking with me ahead of the conference you can also add me on Ning.
