The first annual Performance Marketing Expo was held in my hometown Miami, FL. How could I say no to the sunshine? Well say hello to tropical storm Nicole. Good thing it was held in the Eden Roc Renaissance Beach Resort because we brought the networking into the beautiful hotel lobby.

I saw some familiar faces like @karengarcia, @HeatherinBC, @MurrayNewlands, @Ianternet, @EricSchechter. I also got to see some new speakers present like Blu Atwood CMO of FiftyFlowers.com, Scott Levine VP of Business Development at MyYearbook.com, Paul Rosenblum Co-Founder of MyBuys.com, and keynote speaker Stephanie Nelson aka CouponMom. The show had quality content and speakers.
Paul Rosenblum CoFounder of MyBuys.com and his candid shot:

The event kicked off with the keynotes speaking in one spot. Then they catered to the different audiences with one track for Merchants and Retailers. The second track was focused on Affiliates, Affiliate Managers, Networks, and Agencies. I was happy to be the chair for the Merchant & Retailer tracks. The first day we covered social media topics and the second was about SEO strategies. Rebecca Madigan the Executive Director of the Performance Marketing Association chaired the Affiliate tracks. On day one their speakers covered relationship management and two was about recruiting techniques. I thought this layout was perfect.
Social media seemed to come up in almost every speaker’s topic. It is growing throughout our industry and the internet in general. Business are finding new ways to connect with their audiences and build communities online. My company, Micro Media Marketing, allows you to outsource your social media. It was amazing to me to see how many entrepreneurs with online companies still don’t maximize their social media presence. It is usually because they do not have the time to properly manage their social media accounts. You can have someone that understands the affiliate marketing industry handle your brand and make a big impact by connecting with your audience everyday.

Overall I think this is a go to conference for the performance marketing industry. It is an intimate setting but I am sure will continue to grow each year. The amount of time spent networking and the kind of speakers brought a lot of new ideas to the table. It is great to see our industry continue to grow and more events coming up to represent us as an industry.
#PMExpo LiveTweets
Follow my favourite live tweeter of the conference @Simonjcole a bright Brit!

Keynote Michael Tchong from UberCool.com said: “We spend more time with our laptops then with our better halves.” I tweeted this out and agreed with him! In this case you get the best of both worlds. Blu Atwood CMO and his wife Liza Roeser CEO of fiftyflowers.com do both. I caught them sitting outside getting some work done.
