BlueGlass Florida Conference Coming Up!

October 29th, 2010 · Comments · Conferences, social media, technology

If you are in South or Central Florida you should definitely check out this new conference. BlueGlass is a cutting edge online marketing company that recently merged two heavy hitters: Chris Winfield and Brent Csutoras. Both have my attention when it comes to social media. As you already know, I am in the social media space and they are industry leaders.

Chris is someone I got in contact with when I moved to New York last year. Actually to try to get him to hire me! :) He gave me some good pointers and luckily since then I have started my own company. He is definitely someone I look to for trends and innovation. Brent Csutoras is someone I have heard speak before at Affiliate Summit and read some of his articles in FeedFront Magazine.

If you are in the online marketing space in the South Florida area you should definitely attend their conference coming up next week. I will be at Ad Tech New York this time around but I will be following along from NY. I highly recommend attending and have a special 15% off code for my friends below with more conference details.

Six steps to add a new administrator to your Facebook Fanpage

October 13th, 2010 · Comments · social media

One of my clients asked me to explain the steps of adding me as an administrator of their Facebook fanpage. It can be done in a few seconds. I took some screen shots to explain how you can add a new administrator to your fanpage. I wanted to share those steps and images with you in case you were wondering how it is done. This is basic but at the same time something good to know if you want to give access to people in your company or someone you trust to access your company’s Facebook fanpage.

1. Go to your fanpage. In this case we will use my company Micro Media Marketing as an example: http://facebook.com/micromediamarketing.

2. Under your logo you will see “Edit Page,” select this option:

3. Under Edit Page on the bottom righthand side you will see Admins - Click on “Add”

4. Under “Find Friends” Type in: Stephanie Lichtenstein.

5. When you see your admin’s picture and name appear Click on the photo to select the image, so that it appears as a highlighted blue.

6. To complete Click on the button “Add Admins.”

That’s it! Your admin has been added to your fanpage.

Keep in mind they now have full access to your Facebook fanpage including making edits to existing company details, information, and all previous posts. I recommend you only allow admin rights to someone you trust with your company brand and marketing. Remember this fanpage represents your company and viewed by your Facebook fans which should be your target audience on Facebook.

A lot of eyeballs may be reading the activity posted on your Facebook fanpage. It is important that you monitor all the activity on your company Facebook fanpage including the one of your additional administrators. Pick an administrator that is qualified to represent you in front of your audience. Even if someone you trust like a loyal employee is making your posts they might have a different opinion of what is “OK” material to share. Set guidelines on what is appropriate and how private you would like to remain on the kind of content, images, and videos you share. At the end of the day this will be your brand’s image put out there for everyone online to see. Represent your online brand well.

Performance Marketing Expo Recap

October 4th, 2010 · Comments · Conferences, social media

The first annual Performance Marketing Expo was held in my hometown Miami, FL. How could I say no to the sunshine? Well say hello to tropical storm Nicole. Good thing it was held in the Eden Roc Renaissance Beach Resort because we brought the networking into the beautiful hotel lobby.

I saw some familiar faces like @karengarcia, @HeatherinBC, @MurrayNewlands, @Ianternet, @EricSchechter. I also got to see some new speakers present like Blu Atwood CMO of FiftyFlowers.com, Scott Levine VP of Business Development at MyYearbook.com, Paul Rosenblum Co-Founder of MyBuys.com, and keynote speaker Stephanie Nelson aka CouponMom. The show had quality content and speakers.

The event kicked off with the keynotes speaking in one spot. Then they catered to the different audiences with one track for Merchants and Retailers. The second track was focused on Affiliates, Affiliate Managers, Networks, and Agencies. I was happy to be the chair for the Merchant & Retailer tracks. The first day we covered social media topics and the second was about SEO strategies. Rebecca Madigan the Executive Director of the Performance Marketing Association chaired the Affiliate tracks. On day one their speakers covered relationship management and two was about recruiting techniques. I thought this layout was perfect.

Social media seemed to come up in almost every speaker’s topic. It is growing throughout our industry and the internet in general. Business are finding new ways to connect with their audiences and build communities online. My company, Micro Media Marketing, allows you to outsource your social media. It was amazing to me to see how many entrepreneurs with online companies still don’t maximize their social media presence. It is usually because they do not have the time to properly manage their social media accounts. You can have someone that understands the affiliate marketing industry handle your brand and make a big impact by connecting with your audience everyday.

Overall I think this is a go to conference for the performance marketing industry. It is an intimate setting but I am sure will continue to grow each year. The amount of time spent networking and the kind of speakers brought a lot of new ideas to the table. It is great to see our industry continue to grow and more events coming up to represent us as an industry.

Keynote Michael Tchong from UberCool.com said: “We spend more time with our laptops then with our better halves.” I tweeted this out and agreed with him! In this case you get the best of both worlds. Blu Atwood CMO and his wife Liza Roeser CEO of fiftyflowers.com do both. I caught them sitting outside getting some work done.
