I took some time to post my tentative schedule for Affiliate Summit East with my Daily Guides. Those were wishful thinking because once you get to the conference so many other things happen that you don’t have time to do what you originally thought but it’s always good to be flexible and have an idea of what you want to get out of the conference. This one did not disappoint. Here are some of the highlights from Affiliate Summit East in New York.
Friday:
Some of the early birds came into town and we grabbed dinner at the Tipsy Parson. Wade Tonkin the Ultimate Foodie put this group together and it was a delightful restaurant recommended also by the local NYC: Village Vines. Then Angel Djambazov was with me on my mission to complete the new Micro Media Marketing business cards. The MMM new website is up as well! We offer Social Media Solutions for affiliate marketers.
Saturday:
Audience was a fantastic event. The highlight from this show had to be @harrisoncomedy. If you are ever in NY you should check him out what a comedic genius. Then we got to hear from the audience and Shawn Collins grabbed the mic that was awesome and a great way to start the pre-Affiliate Summit East.
Sunday:
The Meet Market Tables were packed. I was live tweeting for one of my clients, @eAccountableOPM as we posted all of our giveaways and winners. That was action packed and lots of fun. The highlight pic if you didn’t notice it online was Peter Bordes, Scott Parent, and I kicking it back in our chucks. We conference the right way in NYC walking comfort.
Monday:
Exhibit hall, affiliate showcase, and sessions oh my! Once Monday rolls around the conference gets serious. I started my day with an 8am breakfast followed by a power nap. The affiliate showcase was a hit again and the perfect time for merchants to talk to key affiliates that they normally would not get the chance to sit down with.
Tuesday:
The final day of Affiliate Summit was also full of meetings, sessions, and more exhibit hall. Mike Buechele and I did something fun we liked to call session hopping it was pretty close to bar hopping since at the Sports Marketing Session they gave out beers to the audience I’m sure it was Rubacky’s idea. Correction I gave out beers to the audience in my cape. Yes I said cape.
Just talking about this makes me exhausted. Good thing I have a new buy.at pillow to cuddle with at night. Until Affiliate Summit Vegas! On Monday is when the conference really gets going because the Exhibit Hall opens up. This is much bigger than the Meet Market. A good way to start your day is grabbing breakfast and heading to the opening remarks and keynote.

Once you hear the opening remarks and keynote speaker Frank Luntz you can head over to the Exhibit Hall. This is where all the action takes place. The exhibit hall is the most packed and busy area of the entire conference. When you go in there go with a game plan of who you want to meet. Below there is a map of all the exhibitors you can pick from.

If you have time to check out a session there are some good ones at 11:30am. Two of the best speakers battle the same time slot out. Who will it be? The golden guy with his ten tips or the go-to SEO guy. Both speakers are charismatic and knowledgeable. You can’t go wrong with who you pick. It’s more of a personal choice of what you are more interested in learning about at the moment. Link Building Victories and Failures

Once you hear some good content you can always head over to the blogger room to post a recap. This room is open to press and bloggers during the show. Heather Smith does a great job of running the show. It is also a good quiet place to do interviews and share ideas with like-minded bloggers.

Then there is a showcase that you cannot miss if you are a Merchant, OPM, or network. The Meet Market is about the merchants and the Exhibit hall is filled with networks but what about the affiliates? Without them we would be nowhere. So the Affiliate Showcase began last Summit and highlights specific affiliates. It is the perfect time to create lasting partnerships. Here is a video after the last Affiliate Showcase where Tricia Meyer of SunshineRewards.com tells me about her experience. Don’t mind the quality it was definitely not edited but does the job of giving you information.

Okay kids it’s time to say goodbye. Not for good just until I get to the blogger’s lounge at the show.
